Good rest stops with amenities, well-lit areas and ample space are essential when truck drivers need to relax during a long haul. Fortunately for truckers who are traveling through Florida, there is a great new option for taking a break in the Fort Lauderdale area, reports Landline Magazine.

Through a special grant by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Florida 595 truck stop in the town of Davie is expanding its parking options for truckers by adding 90 new spots. Although it officially opens in October, the complex is already filling up their space quickly, showing there is a great need for safe rest areas in this region of the state.

Officials say this stop is the only one for miles, and truckers will no longer have to drive past their limits before taking a break with this new space.

According to the organization's website, the FHWA is committed to ensuring that the nation's highways are held to the highest safety standard possible, keeping motorists secure and upholding trucking safety standards while traveling or on the job. They also support various other projects revolving around the transportation industry, including conservation, infrastructure and developing technology.
