Navigator of the Year recipient announced
Not only can cautious truck drivers ensure the trucking safety and the wellbeing of themselves and others while on the road, as their efforts may also be recognized through awards and honors in the trucking industry. Recently, a driver was selected for the 2011 Navigator of the Year award and received a $25,000 cash prize.
Presented by Rand McNally, a maps and navigational company, this award was granted to Edward Crumer at the Great America Trucking Show last weekend
Edward Crumer of Missouri beat thousands of other applicants for his superior professionalism, impressive hauls and ability to self-navigate.
For 20 years, Crumer has been battling the elements and delivers his freight in a safe and timely manner. He submitted a story about narrowly avoiding an avalanche in Canada, which helped him win the honor. Crumer shared his experiences with extreme weather conditions with officials of the recognition.
"The snow was piled so high on either side of the truck that our view out of the cab on either side was a wall of snow," he said.
