Nationwide truckers help out Special Olympics

The Special Olympics committee has some big plans that will involve truckers all over the nation. Recently, the World's Largest Truck Convoy began a 1,000-mile journey across the U.S. to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics. Drivers of big rigs were asked to volunteer for this event and contribute a donation to participate, reports the York News Times.

Truckers who just passed their CDL training will navigate side-by-side with veteran drivers, all working towards a common goal of supporting a great cause. In Nebraska, for example, the truckers did their part of the route and were greeted at the end by athletes and their families in thanks for the initiative.

Montana truck drivers also participated in the rally, which mostly took place over the weekend, reports KTVQ News.

Throughout the country, more than 3,000 trucks will participate in hopes of breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest convoy completed. The goal is to raise more than $400,000 for the cause through the generous contributions of truckers and others involved in the industry, states the news source.
