National trucking safety awards announced by the ATA
The American Trucking Association (ATA) recently announced the recipients of its annual awards, which recognize the greatness in the trucking industry on a national level. The honors are given to companies and individual truckers who represent leadership in truck driving safety and work hard to protect all motorists on the road.
For more than five decades, the ATA has been honoring companies and drivers for their adherence to various nationwide regulations that keep the trucking industry thriving and safe.
During the contest, companies were judged in three categories of small, mid-size and large fleets for the ATA President’s Trophy recognition. GST Transport Systems LLC in Houston, Texas, won for small fleet and Pitt Ohio based in Pennsylvania was honored for the medium-sized business. Winning for the large company category, which encompasses fleets that travel more than 100 million miles annually, is Rohel Transport Inc. in Wisconsin.
According to Trucking Info, the National Driver of the Year award went to Rickey Oliver, who works for WalMart Corporation. He has hauled freight for more than 27 years and boasts more than 3.5 million miles thought his accident-free career.
