National truck maintenance competition concludes, announces winner
Ensuring truck driving safety is the important role of big rig technicians who maintain the nation's vehicles in the trucking industry. Those who are the best at their job often enter competitions that showcase their special talents. Recently, the TMC SuperTech contest provided an outlet to these superior maintenance professionals, rewarding those who prevailed with special honors and prizes.
This year, the competition tested the best technicians in the business, selected by various truck companies throughout the country. According to Truckline, all participants had to be a TMC member and had to have worked on commercial trucks in the past.
Officials who oversaw the event judged competitors in various categories, including written knowledge, accuracy in solving hands-on solutions and overall quality of work completed.
The winner of the event, Jeff Schlecht, took home first place for the second year in a row, reports Trucking Info. He works for the Omaha Truck Center in Nebraska and took home title of Grand Champion because of his high scores in the written and hands-on sections of the contest.
