Nation Truck Driving Championship winner announced
The exciting events of the National Truck Driving Championship have concluded this weekend and the winners have been announced. Taking the overall first place was Paul Phillips, who represented Con-way Freight and its branch in California.
Phillips is a driver sales representative in Fresno. For the past 25 years, he has been involved in the trucking industry and has worked on honing his skills behind the wheel. During the championship, he used these talents to battle against 428 other contestants.
Drivers from Con-way Freight have taken home first place for three years in a row. The competition has showcased the various driving talents of truckers nationwide since 1937.
Some of the benefits Phillips will receive for taking home the title is a brand new Ford F-150 truck. He also will drive a big rig emblazoned with his name and first place recognition for the year.
To participate in the annual event, truckers must be accident-free during the previous year of driving, which can be aided by CDL training or taking classes to learn about hazardous conditions while on the job.
