NAFMT declares 2012 'The Year of the Trucker'

Created: Monday, January 16th, 2012 03:01 pm

The National Association for Minority Truckers recently declared 2012 as The Year of the Trucker, and plans to host trucker appreciation rallies, convoys and cookouts across the United States to bring national awareness to the importance of truckers.

According to an NAFMT press release announcing The Year of the Trucker, many truckers feel as though their profession is overlooked, and Americans take what they do for granted, which is why the organization has launched this recent initiative.

Efforts to improve trucker recognition and appreciation will culminate at the Third Annual Memphis Trucking Expo, presented by NAFMT on October 13 at the Agricenter International In Memphis, Tennessee.

At the event, members of the trucking industry will be able to talk about a number of issues, including trucker health, trucker safety and other policies that can be improved.

The NAFMT has made a number of efforts to assist minorities in the trucking industry, creating more opportunities for minorities to find assistance, consultation and advocacy.
