Mack increases staff in an effort to meet trucking demand

Created: Monday, May 23rd, 2011 05:01 pm

The trucking industry has been growing significantly in the past few months, particularly because the beginning of the year brought about an increase in the economy, giving suppliers a much-needed boost.

As a result, Mack Trucks announced that it would be increasing the number of people who it employs in an effort to meet the demand, according to TruckingInfo. The company will be increasing its production in the Macungie, Pennsylvania plant, which will lead to an additional 300 jobs to go along with the growth.

The news provider reports that this will be a way for individuals to find a job within the sector, after the company called back all of the employees who were previously laid off during the downturn from the market crash of 2008.

This will go toward the production of the Mack Pinncale, as many fleet managers have been looking to use it.

"Customers are extremely pleased with the Pinnacle model and our MP series engines, in terms of both performance and fuel economy," Kevin Flaherty, Mack senior vice-president in U.S. and Canada, told Truck News. "With recently announced enhancements to our vehicle aerodynamics and engine offerings, we expect the enthusiasm to continue."
