Learning opportunities available for truckers across the US

A recent opportunity for trucking professionals with CDL training took place in Knoxville, Tennessee, which played host to a free, one-day career fair and workshop for truckers, reported Knoxville CBS affiliate WVLT.

At the workshop, drivers were able to meet face to face with recruiters in the area, in an attempt to add to their professional network to gain employment in the trucking industry, said the source.

According to the source, the workshop was hosted by ExpeditersOnline.com, which had representatives from the top 15 companies in the expedited trucking industry to speak about the quickly expanding sector.

The workshop began with speakers discussing how to get started in the industry, followed by presentations on purchasing a first truck and business essentials in the industry, reported the news source.

The 2012 Recruiting and Retention Conference created by the Truckload Carriers Association and ACS in Nashville was another opportunity for truckers to learn about the latest happenings in the industry, reported Heavy Duty Trucking magazine.

The strengthening domestic auto industry, which is expected to lead to growth in the trucking industry, was one of the conference's hot topics, said the magazine.
