Not only are many trucking companies making great strides in ensuring their businesses are eco-friendly, but some are also opposing certain types of fuel that are especially harsh on the environment. For example, the Chiquita Brands corporation is eliminating their use of tar sands during production in the near future, which has been said to be a harmful energy source to nature.

Other trucking companies have been following suit behind Chiquita and raising awareness about the dangers of tar sands and their refineries. Organizations like ForestEthics have been advocating against the use of this energy source, especially to trucking companies, as they use a large quantity of fuel across North America.

"Canada's tar sands is all risk and no benefit for leading American brands like Chiquita that are resolved to reduce environmental problems, so they are working hard to get tar sands out of their transportation footprint," Aaron Sanger of ForestEthics said in a statement.

If truckers who have finished their CDL training are concerned about the environment, they can look up what companies are making an effort towards protecting the environment and finding new ways to fuel their trucks.
