Gas prices may decrease in 2012, but not by much

The cost of fuel is most likely on the minds of many fleet management owners whose companies are greatly affected by these unpredictable prices. The Department of Energy (DOE) has recently made predictions for fuel prices slated for next year.

The DOE says trucking fuel will average $3.87 per gallon next year, which is about nine cents less than the numbers they released last month. Currently, the average diesel fuel prices are $3.85 per gallon.

This change in costs is affected by the production of crude oil throughout the world, which has been steadily rising. Last year, the cost to refine a gallon of diesel fuel was 38 cents, and this year it rose to 65 cents. The DOE said that they predict a fall in price for next year, to 58 cents per refined gallon.

Although prices to fuel trucks show no signs of slowing, the demand for oil and fuel could also create jobs for truckers who haul these types of freight throughout the country. Truckers interested in this sector of the industry may want to complete their CDL training and recurrent hazmat training to prepare them for hauling dangerous material.
