Garmin launches truck-specific GPS system

Created: Monday, August 27th, 2012 11:01 am

Garmin has announced its first trucking navigation system, the dezl 760, designed specifically with many different features to help truckers on the road.

The device has a 7-inch screen and Active Lane Guidance that helps truckers with a CDL driver’s license navigate intersections and highway exits. The split-screen feature guides drivers to the exit lane when approaching a turn-off or exit by highlighting the designated route in purple, helping drivers move over with enough time to avoid dangerous last-minute turns. Once off the highway, the Garmin Exit Services feature lets drivers search for food, lodging and other points of interest in the area.

Dezl 760 includes a feature that caters specifically to a truck’s height, weight, length and carriage, including truck-verified roads, truck-specific routes and turn-by-turn directions. The device also provides drivers with hazard warnings, including upcoming sharp turns, which help ensure trucking driving safety.

“The new dezl 760 is designed to meet the specific needs of truckers, helping to make their job easier and save time, fuel and money,” said Dan Bartel, vice president of worldwide sales at Garmin. “With features like trip data recording, border notices and real-time information through Smartphone Link, the dezl 760 becomes a full-featured digital assistant in the cab.”
