Ford Motor, Newman's Own partner with Feeding America

Created: Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 01:01 pm

Ford Motor Company and Newman's Own have partnered with Feeding America for the 12th consecutive year, and will work together to fill 107 refrigerated Ford trucks with Newman's Own food products for less-fortunate Americans. The donations of these much-needed nutritious perishable foods will be given to food banks in four regions across the United States.

Many hard-to-reach communities often do not have a strong network of emergency food providers, and Ford and Newman's Own are looking to fill that void. CDL-licensed drivers will make deliveries to the Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, Feeding America's San Diego and South Florida chapters and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

"Meeting the needs of those who don't have access to perishable foods was important to Paul Newman at the beginning of the program, and now, with an increased nationwide need, it's become even more critical," Tom Indoe, president and CEO of Newman's Own, said. "Newman's Own is proud to be part of this partnership."

Ford and Newman's Own first partnered with Feeding America to address the growing need for nutritious food for American families facing hunger. In the years since, Feeding America has delivered more than 209 million meals to food banks across the United States.
