Fleet management officials may need to prepare for more work

Created: Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 04:01 pm

Industry analysts are expecting an uptick in business across the transportation field for the beginning of 2011, Fleet Owner reports.

Representatives from Robert W. Baird and Company told the news source that they believe that increased industrial production will be the primary instigator of improvement in the trucking industry. They explained that last year's peak season lasted longer than they anticipated, which gave commercial transportation companies a boost heading into the new year.

As a result, analysts are expecting more work and a resultant increase in the employment of truck drivers in the coming years. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, long-haul drivers will have the most promising job prospects over the next seven years, and applicants who have previous experience are likely to receive favor from hiring managers.

Individuals who wish to take advantage of this projected growth may want to demonstrate their interest in the field by taking online truck driver training courses. These classes may prove especially beneficial to jobseekers who have little experience, as they can offer enrollees a crash course on the nature of their work.
