Seasoned veterans of trucking and newly minted drivers who have recently completed their CDL training may know that jobs on the road have been experiencing an increase despite current issues with the economy and unemployment. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics released some official data on the adages the trucking industry have been experiencing, which may be encouraging to those who would like to become a part of it in the near future.

The actual national rate of job opportunities is on the rise, although new work is being added slowly. In the trucking industry, last October there were more than 3,100 jobs introduced to the market, which is significantly higher than October 2010.

Not only are new truckers being hired, more drivers are experiencing better benefits and the ability to get hired full-time and on salary. Jobs driving big rigs that are on payroll are also increasing, with an additional 31,000 positions in the transportation industry since last year.

Truckers searching for employment may want to research their state’s specific opportunities to explore what types of jobs may be the best fit once an individual has taken compliance safety for truck drivers and is ready to hit the road.
