Fall harvests bring additional trucking jobs nationwide

With fall in full swing, many truckers are being hired to haul autumn crops across the country, including apples, pears, and other crispy fruits. This boost in the harvest season is making even more opportunities for drivers to find jobs with trucking companies, especially in states where these crops are most prevalent, like Washington, reports The Wenatchee World.

The state experienced a recent drop in unemployment due to the harvest hauling needed by truckers. Roughly 2,500 drivers received jobs for transporting the crops across the state and throughout the country. The counties with the most farms experienced the biggest influxes in jobs, which put many truckers back on the road or hauling for the first time.

Not all of this year’s fall crops are being delivered to stores for consumption, though. According to The Detroit Free Press, Mark Pattullo of Michigan owns a trucking company that has been hauling beets that will be used as deer bait during hunting season. Pattullo has found a unique niche in the business where this type of material is in high demand throughout the state.
