Economic state of trucking industry slowly recovering
Those involved in the trucking industry have recently been enjoying a boom in demand and a steady need for drivers, reports Insurance News Net. Analytical experts say the improvements are a good thing, but there will still be time before trucking companies experience a full recovery from the past economic instability.
Fleet management owners are looking to stay on top of hiring, due to the inevitable increase of freight that will need to be hauled as the nation recovers and begins to purchase more goods. Unfortunately, as conditions do progress, fuel costs may also swell to compensate for its need. Truck companies will need to prepare for these changes in gas prices, as well as find creative ways to combat restrictions on freight capacities.
The total amount of freight volume is still about half of what it was before the recession, but the numbers are growing and may make a full comeback in the next few years.
According to Logistics Management, truck tonnage overall rose about 5.7 percent last year, showing definite growth and a need for more hired truckers and equipment.
