Drivers needed in the future at nationwide trucking companies
When trucking companies make plans to grow their fleets, truckers will have more opportunities to obtain jobs in the industry. Recently, the Old Dominion Freight Line in Indianapolis, Indiana, announced it will initiate programs within their company that will eventually lead to more than 180 additional jobs in the next two years, the Indy Star reports.
Due to the business successfully increasing their shipments by 14 percent in the past quarter, company officials will be spending about $22 million to develop their current facility. Overall, Old Dominion will pay out $120 million that will, in turn, create extra occupations within the business, giving truckers the chance to work for this expanding company.
In Pennsylvania, the state's department of transportation announced that it is looking to hire about two dozen truck drivers for the upcoming winter season for plowing, The York Dispatch reports. Officials have offered to assist new employees with compliance training for truck drivers starting this September in addition to whatever CDL training truckers have had in the past.
Drivers are needed in various counties of Pennsylvania, including Franklin, Cumberland and Lancaster. These positions could be a lucrative opportunity for new drivers who'd like to learn more about the industry.
