Drivers honored for truck driving safety

Safety directors who wish to ensure their employees' well-being on the road may want to consider enrolling them in compliance safety training for truck drivers. These courses can help managers feel more confident in their workers, and may even help them gain industry-wide recognition.

One organization that honors companies that exhibit good safety practices is the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA). Earlier this week, the AMSA announced the winners of its annual awards, which are intended to recognize cautious drivers and fleets.

The association named the recipients of its Super Van Operator Lifetime Achievement, Super Van Operator for Special Commodities, Super Van Operator for Household Goods, Rookie Super Van Operator Awards, which were bestowed upon individual drivers. A total of six fleets were also honored for their efforts to maintain trucking safety.

Judges selected the awardees based on their community involvement, customer service skills, lifetime driving record, violations received, miles driven, accident record, driving awards as well as their off-duty interests and activities.

Linda Bauer Darr, president and CEO of the AMSA, said that the winners have "demonstrated the highest level of dedication to safety for their customers and themselves, and, as a result, have enhanced our industry’s image as customer-focused and strongly committed to safe operations."
