Discussions begin on natural gas projects in Alaska

Created: Thursday, October 25th, 2012 04:01 pm

Alaska Governor Sean Parnell recently visited natural gas company, Interior Alaska, and will help promote energy projects in the region. Fairbanks Natural Gas and Golden Valley Electric Association are both interested in the client, according to the Fairbanks Daily News Miner.

Both projects bring something different to the table. GVEA believes its plans have a greater capacity to truck more gas to Fairbanks, while FNG believes that it is a lot closer to actually building a project. However, officials hope that the two companies will be able to work together to create a comprehensive alignment that will best serve the needs of the nation's professional CDL drivers and carriers.

"We all met together in preparation to meet with the governor, and that process has brought us closer to where we get alignment to achieve everybody's goals," said Corey Borgeson, interim CEO for GVEA. "At the end of the day, the one common goal is to provide natural gas to the Fairbanks community, and while everybody has differing ways they want to do it, we think there can be an alignment where everybody's needs are met."
