Country singer shows support of trucking industry though music
The trucking industry is receiving support from some new and exciting places that highlight the hard work these individuals accomplish every day. Recently, country singer Lindsay Lawler released a new single titled "Highway Angel," praising the efforts of good Samaritans and safe drivers behind the wheels of big rigs nationwide.
The song was introduced online, featuring a music video telling the story of a trucker who helps a driver that has gotten into an accident. Supporters of the song are encouraging others to spread the word about positive trucking safety messages by sharing the video with friends and family.
"People are always asking me what they can do to change the image of trucking. This is something that is quick, easy to do, and doesn’t cost anything," Gary Salisbury, chairman from the Truckload Carrier's Association, said in a statement.
This month, 30,000 football fans will watch the video during the Idaho Potato Bowl and the winner of the TCA's Highway Angel of the Year award will be honored. Recipient Marcus Beam, trucker for Epes Transport System, was given the award for rescuing a young family from an overturned vehicle.
