Con-way Freight recently announced it was named by Walmart as its 2011 National LTL Carrier of the Year. The honor was bestowed at Walmart's carrier conference in Bentonville, Arkansas.

"In going above and beyond to exceed expectations and service our customers, Con-way Freight has continuously separated themselves from other carrier partners in the field," said Ken Braunbach, senior director of carrier relations for Walmart.

Con-way was able to earn the distinction from Walmart due to its daily on-time delivery performance, market coverage, transit times, claims prevention, effective communication and ease of doing business and customer service. These outstanding fleet management and general business tactics allowed Con-way to provide Walmart with excellence in trucking.

The staff at Con-way also recently made a difference in the lives of many military members located overseas, reported AnnArbor.com.

The website said employees of the company collected items to include in care packages to be sent overseas to members of the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as family members and others serving in the military. Con-way employees composed hand-written notes to include in the packages of basic food and care items.
