Competition has big rig inspectors battle for first place position
Truckers may complete various online truck driver safety training coursework, but if their vehicles are not working properly, it can still put these drivers in danger while on the road. Inspectors have the important job to ensure truck driving safety by examining big rigs for any malfunction that may put a trucker in danger.
Recently, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's North American Inspectors Championships was held in Orlando, Florida to showcase the essential role these individuals play in the trucking industry.
John Sova from North Dakota was given the Grand Champion award this year at the competition. Sova displayed his skills in various categories to achieve this honor, including hazmat/transportation of dangerous goods inspection and North American Standard level I inspection.
Anne Ferro, an official from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, said she was impressed by the dedication to protecting motorists shown by each of the competitors during the event.
"Their tireless commitment to safety is not only inspiring to us all, it saves lives every day," she said.
