National Truck Protection (NTP) recently inked a deal with Cascade Sierra Solutions (CSS) to help formulate ideas on reducing fuel consumption and harmful exhaust emissions for heavy-duty diesel trucks.

CSS officials said that they provide numerous solutions for truck owners to reduce harmful emissions, which includes improving fuel consumption. They also can retrofit existing fleet vehicles with more fuel-efficient technology. This partnership comes after recent unrest in Libya has driven gas prices up.

"We are delighted to have this relationship with CSS," said Robert S. Amico, president of NTP, "They are at the forefront of a trend that will likely spread rapidly throughout the industry over the next 24 months."

Online truck driving regulation training may help individuals who seek options for better mileage and ways to reduce gas consumption. These classes can show operators the best fuel-efficient routes to use while hauling freight.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, diesel currently costs $3.90 per gallon, which is an increase of nearly 98 cents from last year's totals.
