CTA members to join the Truckers Against Trafficking initiative

Created: Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 01:01 pm

Members of the California Trucking Association will join the Truckers Against Trafficking initiative, working to stop human trafficking, which the U.S. State Department found affects up to 800,000 victims per year.

Officer Michael Campbell, CEO of the CTA, said reducing the amount of human trafficking is a natural goal for the organization, given its commitment to safety.

"Truckers are the eyes and ears of our nation’s highways," said Kendis Paris, national director of Truckers Against Trafficking. "We’re very excited ... and believe the California trucking industry will do much to put a dent in domestic sex trafficking."

The CTA will distribute informative DVDs and information cards that trucking companies should hand out to students during CDL training sessions or other sessions related to safety.

More information for those looking to join the fight against trafficking is available from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children & Families website, which describes how trafficking can affect the lives of many.
