Award program aims to honor truckers' bravery
Truckers must tackle some difficult situations every day while navigating the nation's highways to ensure the safety and protection of all motorists on the road. Recently, the Goodyear tire corporation announced that it is accepting nominations for next year's Highway Hero program, which allows truckers and fleet management owners to recommend an exceptional trucker who excelled in their field of work.
"The Highway Hero program was created by Goodyear to recognize professional truck drivers and the life-saving rescues and roadside assistance they provide as their job take them across North America," Joseph Copland, vice president of Goodyear Commercial Tire Systems, told Trucking Info.
Qualifications for the recognition include being a full-time driver, being a resident of the U.S. or Canada, and driving a big rig of 14 or more wheels at the time of the heroic occurrence.
Drivers who have just completed their CDL training and are looking to begin their career in the trucking industry can look up to these individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty at their job.
