It takes a special person to stand out amongst the thousands of truck drivers in their home state. However, for Christopher Patton of Arkansas, the recognition just highlights another day on the job.

Patton received the Trucker of the Year award, being chosen from more than 60,000 state-wide commercial drivers. As an employee of CalArk International, Patton has a perfect record when it comes to on-time delivery, and no accidents have happened on his watch for more than 587,000 miles. Lane Kidd, president of the Arkansas Trucker's Association, presented the award at their annual conference.

According to The Daily Reporter, the state of Michigan also has a similar honor, which was awarded to Raymond Barlow this year. He has driven for WalMart Transportation for almost a decade, and during his entire 33-year career as a truck driver, Barlow has covered more than four million miles of pavement. This year's award was based on various guidelines, including a personal interview, work attitude, accident-free miles and driver's safety record.
