Alaskan residents remember beloved local trucker through ceremony

Truckers who conquer the wild and unpredictable highways in Alaska are often heroes in the industry for their dedication and drive. Recently, the Auke Bay Ferry Terminal near Juneau, Alaska was named after a talented and brave truck driver who was on the road for almost 50 years, reports Today’s Trucking.

Frank Palmer was an employee of various companies, including Orme Transfer and Alaska Marine Trucking. For decades, he played an important role in ensuring goods arrived safely and securely to the Alaskan community he serviced.

Officials will rename the ferry terminal after Palmer, which was made possible by a recent senate bill.

Tragically, Palmer passed away recently at the age of 69, but family and friends remember him as a bright light in the trucking industry, reports the Juneau Empire.

Eric Badger of Lynden Transports said he had nothing but glowing words of praise for Palmer, who for years was a big asset to the community.

“Frank was there every working day of his life, doing what he loved, he had an impact on our life,” Badger told the news source.
