American Truck Group recently announced a new business model that will provide work for approximately 8,000 truck drivers and trucking industry workers, by having them agree to rent their own rig with a service contract and an ownership option attached to that agreement.

Louis Normand, owner of ATG, believes that the population is growing, increasing the need for staple goods, while online shopping is also becoming more popular, paving the way for more truck routes.

As part of his company's expansion, Normand intends to add at least 1,400 driver jobs, due to recent regulations that are limiting daily driving hours, meaning more drivers for each truck.

Given the rapid employment growth ATG is after, online CDL training could be a shrewd choice to get drivers up-to-speed with licenses and certifications and on the road.

With the addition of these new jobs, Normand believes the next challenge his company with encounter is fleet expansion, which could require some creative financing in order to fund.

With trucking jobs expected to increase, the Daily Record, a news source based in Ellensburg, Washington, reported trucking is vital to the success of industries in the surrounding county.

The news source said commercial trucking poses many economic benefits for the area, as the industry not only transports the area's agriculture products to shipping centers for export, but supports a system of truck support companies, including parts suppliers and truck stop operators.
