A celebration of truck driving to take place in Iowa

Created: Thursday, June 30th, 2011 05:01 pm

For more than 30 years, truckers form around the country have been gathering in Walcott, Iowa, to celebrate their way of life at the annual Truckers Jamboree, reports Land Line Magazine.

Drivers and their families will be able to enjoy a myriad of events, such as a massive pork chop cookout, fireworks and a Super Truck beauty contest.

Alongside the fun events planned for the festival, drivers can also keep up their trucker health by being screened at the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association stall. Various check-up procedures will be available free of charge or for a reasonable fee, including sleep apnea testing and blood pressure monitoring.

The Moon Family, fleet management fans and owners of the Iowa 80 truck stops, say they are giving back to the community of truckers who do a great job.

"Thank you to the millions of truck drivers that deliver the goods we consume," they told the news source. "Whether it’s groceries, gas, clothes or cars - you can bet it was delivered by a truck."

According to the company's website, the Truckers Jamboree will take place July 14th and 15th this year.
