Workout rooms introduced at rest stops for truckers

Created: Wednesday, August 24th, 2011 04:01 pm

Truck driving by nature is a mostly sedentary job, so drivers need to be extra aware of trucker health and wellness while on the job. A few truck stop companies are recognizing these needs and offering drivers fitness centers at their facilities so they may create exercise routines between hauls, Trucking Info reports.

Pilot Flying J rest stops will be partnering with Snap Fitness gyms and the Rolling Strong organization to create facilities specifically for truckers on tight schedules. They will include various workout equipment options and have professionals on hand for training tips.

According to the organization's website, Snap Fitness is based in Minnesota and has been continually expanding their services throughout the country to provide 24-hour fitness facilities to truckers and others with non-traditional working hours.

Rolling Strong is an initiative that focuses on the physical and mental fitness of truckers. Along with providing places to work out, this program will introduce nutritional guides, medical clinics and sleep diagnosis centers to various truck stops nationwide, reports the news source.
