Truckload Carriers Association announces second weight loss showdown

Created: Tuesday, August 28th, 2012 12:01 pm

The Truckload Carriers Association has launched its second weight loss competition for truck drivers.

In the first weight loss challenge, participating individuals lost a combined 3,022 pounds. Six new trucking companies from the United States and Canada will take part in the Second North American Battle of Trucking’s Weight Loss Showdown, according to Trucking Info.

Bison Transport, Dutch Maid Logistics, Erb Transport, John Veriha Trucking, PGT Trucking and Tyson Foods join the ranks in a competition that challenges both drivers with certified driver’s licenses and other staff from TCA-member carriers to lose the highest percentage of weight possible.

“The first showdown was just the beginning, providing an intriguing glimpse at the positive results that can be achieved when people get motivated,” said Chris Burruss, president of TCA. “Showdowns are an excellent way for trucking companies to give back to their drivers and staff, helping them shed pounds toward the goal of improved overall health.”

TravelCenters of America will award the winning company with $13,000 worth of StayFit fitness equipment and $3,000 worth of restaurant gift certificates.

The winners will be announced in December, 2012.
