Trucker learns what the holiday season truly means

Although many individuals take time off for the holiday season, many truckers have to continue hauling freight across the country well into the festivities. Fortunately, the trucking industry tends to be a tight-knit community and they look out for each other while on the job.

Truck driver Alfy Meyer recently experienced this kind of camaraderie, reports Today's Trucking. While driving through Oklahoma, he lost a significant amount of cash at a truck stop. A good Samaritan turned in the money to the relief of Meyer, who gave the fellow driver a monetary award for his honest deed.

"Considering the state of the economy in the U.S.A. and society’s gradual but ever-diminishing sense of ethics and morality, it was a refreshing and shining example of character and an encouragement for all of us not to lose faith and hope in people," wrote Meyer in his story.

Truckers who have recently completed their CDL training may wish to start their careers off on the right foot by striving towards keeping goodwill and respect at the top of their priorities, especially with their fellow truckers who may need a hand this holiday season.
