Trucker health is a top priority for truck stop gym business
Staying fit and healthy should be one of truckers' top priorities while handling the demands of their sometimes physically taxing occupation. Fortunately, several companies are making it easier for truckers to exercise between shifts or at rest stops to maintain trucker health and positive habits.
Snap Fitness, which is a nationwide fitness center chain, has announced plans to expand its franchise and introduce new complexes to dozens of truck stops in the upcoming months, reports The Wall Street Journal. The corporation is in collaboration with Rolling Strong, an initiative to encourage exercise among big rig drivers.
According to a study conducted by Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, those in businesses which require little movement or remaining sedentary throughout the day can cause individuals to have weight problems. The data was collected from more than 13,000 individuals who travel for their job one or more days a month. Those with the most health problems were on the road 20 or more days. This category includes truckers who drive for hours at a time, so keeping a healthy routine is more important than ever in this field of work.
