DFP creates new, safe loading dock
In an attempt to improve trucker health, Diversified Fall Protection recently announced a new loading dock safety gate that falls in line with Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance.
Jeff Schneid, president of DFP, said this new loading dock option is much safer than the average loading dock possessed by many forklift operators and trucking companies.
Previous loading docks have caused safety hazards for truck drivers and forklift operators who are moving of heavy materials. The new loading dock safety gate allows truckers to open their overhead door and truck opening, safely, while eliminating health concerns.
"OSHA and Department of Labor statistics routinely list falls as the highest cost and the second-most-frequent cause of workplace fatalities, second only to transportation- and highway-related incidents," said Matt Pittner, engineered safety systems specialist of DFP. "This system is easy to use, cost effective and represents a significant improvement in loading dock fall protection."
Members of the trucking industry should look into offerings from DFP that allow for improved safety measures for trucking companies and their fleets, such as loading platforms for trailers and personal protective equipment for truckers when loading heavy materials.
