California trucking company receives award for going green

Many trucking business are realizing that an investment in environmental equipment and logistics will ensure trucker health and help their company become environmentally friendly. Recently, the California-based company ATDynamics received the 2011 Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (GLEEA) for its efforts in reducing emissions, reports Fleet Owner.

"We are honored to receive one of the most prestigious environmental business awards in the country," Andrew Smith, chief executive officer and founder of ATDynamics, said in a statement. "In a world of 7 billion people and growing energy challenges, we need to reinvent every aspect of our economy, including how we move freight."

One of the major advancements ATDynamics has added to its fleets is TrailerTail, which is a device that is attached to the back of a big rig that reduces fuel consumption.

According to the California Environmental Protection Agency’s website, this recognition has been the top environmental award in the state for more than 10 years. It is supported by several eco-friendly advocate groups that wish to  honor the effort that local businesses are making towards things like environmental justice, pollution preventions and economic progress.
