Some fleet management owners in the trucking industry are constantly evolving to adapt to the uncertain economic times, whether it means finding new ways to track and manage expenses, adhering to superior truck driving safety standards or merging efforts with another business.

Recently, Specialized Transportation, Inc. (STI) was acquired by CRST International Inc., so now the company can put its efforts towards providing the best services to its customers.

Before the acquisition, CRST already employed more than 4,400 truckers and roughly 2,500 independent contractors throughout the nation. STI was based in the state of Indiana, while CRST resides in Iowa.

Dave Rusch, chief executive officer and president of CRST, says revenue will increase and the company will expand to rank among some of the biggest freight hauling companies in the U.S.

"It supplements our current business of expedited van, flatbed, dedicated fleet and transportation management services by giving us access to a new network of agents and 45 distribution centers in key metropolitan areas in North America," he said.
