Despite the uncertain economic times that is affecting the job market throughout the country, fleet management owners are still looking to hire more truckers as the demand for hauling freight continues to increase, the Park Rapids Enterprise reports. Several trucking businesses are putting out the call for commercial drivers, especially those who have undergone CDL training, who would like to begin or revamp their careers.

In Minnesota, the Polman Transfer company has purchased new big rigs for their fleet and plan to hire additional drivers to expand their business. Currently, Polman has about 70 trucks and 250 trailers.

Lonna Watland, safety director of the company said the need for truckers is steadily on the rise and this is requiring many companies to hire drivers of different levels, from beginners to seasoned veterans.

According to the St. Petersburg Times, Florida truckers may have additional advantages when searching for job opportunities. Several companies will pay drivers while they complete their compliance training for truck drivers. Fleet management owners from the state say they are encouraging unemployed Floridians to consider this truck driving avenue for steady pay and benefits.
