New line of tablets for trucks introduced
Truckers' cabins are not always very pretty places. These areas of the big rigs are often subjected to some harsh treatment due to the nature of the driver's rugged occupation. Maintaining a cabin is usually not included in compliance training for truck drivers, so one company is making sure that the vehicles' equipment can withstand tough cabin conditions.
Glacier Computer has designed a computer tablet that can brave the potential spills, bumps and rattles of the road. According to the company's website, the T507K model still functions normally after a 6-foot-high drop onto concrete.
These monitors are equipped with modern features, including a camera, bar code imaging and Windows operating systems. The job of truckers and fleet management owners may be simplified by the use of tablets, which can map out transport routes or keep track of the freight haul.
The tablets are designed to be touchscreen compatible and used with wireless internet. Tablets in general can benefit drivers to ensure trucking safety in case of traffic emergencies or severe weather.
