Companies continue to streamline truck technology
As technology continues to renovate the trucking industry, companies are investing in some of these new gadgets and designs that will better their business and sometimes improve trucking safety standards as well.
Even a small change to a large big rig can make a difference to its emissions and impact on the environment. In 2008, the ATDynamics company created an add-on piece for trailers, called TrailerTails, that makes the overall truck more aerodynamic, which can save on gas and the environment, The New York Times reports.
Several trucking companies have chosen to purchase product for their fleets, including Mesilla Valley Transportation in New Mexico, which invested in 3,500 TrailerTails for their trucks.
The company claims that if 2 million vehicles are fitted with these alterations, in 10 years more than $20 billion could be saved on gasing trucks.
ATDynamics have been innovating trailer designs for years and plan to continue offering their TrailerTail technology to the trucking industry, effectively decreasing fuel use throughout the country. Fleet management owners who wish to reduce costs may consider these products that can improve revenue and be eco-friendly as well.
