Anti-idling rebates to help trucking companies become more green
Cascade Sierra Solutions, the company administering the Shorepower Truck Electrification Project, recently announced there is still money available to provide rebates to trucking companies wishing to install anti-idling equipment, which helps cut fuel costs.
The STEP program provides up to 20 percent of the costs and installation of products such as HVAC systems, battery evaporative cooler systems, thermal storage systems and truck cold plate systems, which work to improve fleet management by making vehicle performance more consistent and dependable.
"We're very pleased with the level of participation in this program," said David Orton, marketing manager for Cascade Sierra Solutions. "Reducing idling has benefits for so many people in the trucking industry and in communities bordering busy freight corridors."
Supplementing the new anti-idling technology are truck stops around the nation, which are beginning to outfit their facilities with plugs to charge the technology.
Anti-idling systems are designed to make trucking companies more green, which is also the objective of the National Truck Funding/American Truck Group.
The group recently built a chemical-free, detergent-free, pollution-proof truck wash, which will cut down the waste products of traditional truck washing systems that include traditional degreasers, detergents and chemicals.
