Study reveals new ways to ensure CSA 2010 compliance

In recent months, legislators have paid a great deal of attention to truck driving safety. However, some professionals in this field may not be aware of the policy changes that could potentially impact their work.

Fortunately, there are a great deal of online truck driver safety training courses that could help these individuals follow the letter of the law.

Additionally, recent research has unveiled new methods of ensuring that these rules are being obeyed. According to a study from the American Transportation Research Institute, safety directors may want to employ alternative compliance strategies to regulate their fleets. These include employer notification systems, on-board technologies and innovative drug testing methods.

The researchers also noted that, although compliance reviews did reduce the number of accidents that occurred among smaller fleets, larger companies did not see this benefit as often, if at all.

Steve Williams, chairman of the ATRI Board, said that their findings may lead to a Department of Transportation-approved certification program that could "help our industry move from incremental to exponential safety improvements."
