New software program helps drivers view progress in their CSA scores
Officials from Vigillo, which is a software system developer, recently announced that it has developed a program to help truck drivers track their Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) scores, Fleet Owner reports.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) recently unveiled the CSA program, which is designed to promote trucking safety. However, individual truckers do not have the means to see their specific score and cannot measure performance over time.
Officials told the news provider that the new software, which is called Roadside Resume, aims to give the driver a CSA scorecard. The program is based on three years of violation history and up to five current and past CDL numbers.
"The government has essentially created a system to ‘score’ the safety performance of truck drivers, but keeps that data to themselves until it is time to go ‘get’ the driver for safety violations," Steve Bryan, CEO of the company, told the news source.
However, safety directors can enroll their employees in online trucking driving compliance training to help educate individuals on the new standards in the industry.
According to the FMCSA, nearly 9,000 federal compliance reviews occurred in 2010. Meanwhile, approximately 6,000 were conducted at the state level.
