A federal report shows that CSA costs will drastically rise in 2012

Officials from the Government Accountability Office recently announced that the cost of the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program may continue to rise, Trucking Info reports.

The office found that $9.5 million was used for the program in 2010, which is an increase of more than $7 million from 2007. In 2009, FMCSA requested $11.8 million to help cover the cost of modernizing their software.

This year, FMCSA is requesting more than $14 million. Officials told the news source that the agency has used five full-time employees for the program so far, with as many as 40 part-time staff members. Much of the program was developed by contractors.

However, the agency is expected to request $78 million and 98 new full-time staff members in 2012 when the program is fully implemented and CSA is integrated into its operations.

Companies can enroll their operators into online truck driving regulation training to help them meet new CSA 2010 compliance standards.
