Personal truck maintenance keeps things running smoothly on overhauls
Not all truckers can afford time to stop and tend to small repairs or aesthetic upkeeps. However, many of the little details can be attended to by truckers themselves quickly while on the job. Truckin' Magazine offers advice on the proper way to fix up one's truck on the go.
If the chrome near the wheels or upfront is looking dull, a super fine steel wool pad and some polisher will make the detailing shine. The brush should be smooth or it could scratch the surfaces.
Taking apart the small fixtures on the truck's exterior can make certain areas easier to reach. When removing small screws or parts, putting them inside a plastic bag will prevent losing any important fasteners.
It may be tempting to use a rag or paper towels to clean glass surfaces of the truck, but the best way to accomplish streak-free surfaces is newspaper. Ink may come off on hands but it will not smudge windows or windshield.
A gunky engine can underperform and may cause irreversible damage to its mechanisms, reports How Stuff Works. A simple hose can wash away grime, as long as the carburetor is covered with plastic or it may be ruined.
