Truckers are in Their Crosshairs

I wear a lot of hats around here. One of my duties is to keep my websites high in the Google rankings. I spend time studying the search engines. I came across an article last weekend on Search Engine Watch listing the most expensive keywords in the country. I'm also a lifelong trucker and the list astonished me. I've seen enough late night truck-accident attorney commercials to realize that truck accidents make lawyers a bunch of money. I didn't realize the scope until I read this article.

The Search Engine Watch author explains the basic principle of keyword marketing better than I can. "As I'm sure you know, advertisers pay a fee every time somebody clicks on a link in one of their ads. Some of the costs per click being paid are absolutely staggering, though they must be worth it, from the advertiser's perspective. Last month I analyzed a large chunk of Google Adwords data from SEMrush to discover the most expensive keywords in the US. Here are the top 100 terms, based on a massive dataset of 80m keywords".

Truckers are Under Attack.

A Dallas truck-chasing attorney is willing to pay $425.70 to Google for ONE click to their website. That Dallas lawyer sees huge dollar signs in truck accidents. He pays the same money for one click that we pay to fill up our fuel tanks. It's crazy.

Documentation is Our Only Defense

I owned a temporary driver business a few years. One of our drivers was in involved in an accident. I was deposed by one of these truck-chasing attorneys in April for four hours. Four miserable hours he asked the same questions over and over. He was hoping to nail me with negligent hiring. Did I have the entire Driver Qualification in order? Yes. Did I provide ongoing to training to the driver? Yes. Of course, they wanted to see the Training Certificates after the deposition. I sent them in. The next day my attorney announced that we were not going to trial. We would mediate instead.

Training Certificates Saved My Butt

I knew from the perils of my family's trucking company that documentation was king. I also knew that scheduling training for my drivers was a pain. Luckily, I also own a driver training company. Ten years ago I created online courses to assist my family's small truckline. The drivers were too spread out to coordinate enough training to keep the attorneys away. I figured the online class would make it easy. Except, the technology ten years ago (even 3 years ago) meant that I still had to bring all of the drivers into Denver for training. They needed access to a desktop computer to complete the Flash based courses. The driver still needed to be scheduled. It was just as difficult (and not much more effective) than bringing them into a safety meeting.

We Neglect Difficult Things

Even me. I own a safety training company and it's still a pain to get all of my drivers trained because of the desktop computer requirement. Well, I spent the last year solving that problem. I have 122 truck safety courses on my website Safety as a Service. 60 of those courses are mobile friendly. I'm converting 10 courses a day to the format. Everything should be complete in a couple of weeks.

Train Your Driver While He Picks-Up the Next Load

My truck-chasing attorney didn't ask once about length of training. He only wanted documentation of training. I worked hard to shorten the classes. I'll hold my content up against anyone's. Nobody said we had to hold a driver's attention for hours. In fact short, more frequent training resonates better with the drivers. The new courses are two to ten minutes long. Your driver has enough time throughout the day to watch a short class on their phone. My system records the training and sends a certificate to you. It's easy and you'll be able to brandish the training certificates around your neck to keep the vampire attorneys away.

I'm Willing to Give It Away

I'm so mad at these vultures that I want to help my trucking brothers and sisters out.The madness needs to stop
