When fleet management owners have to unexpectedly or quickly re-route their trucks through other states, the paperwork can be daunting and stressful. However, The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has made this process simpler by offering the forms, which are good for up to ten days of travel, online.
"The new system makes acquiring a trip permit much easier for trucking companies," Phil Kingery, manager of Motor Carrier Services, said in a statement. "Permits can be purchased at any time - from their home or office and at their convenience."
These permits can be obtained by trucking companies that are registered out of state and wish to use West Virginian highways. All the paperwork can be completed through the DMV website and the permit may be purchased through an online credit card payment
Not only does this new service make obtaining permits easier for truckers, but law enforcement can also keep track of the legalities of commercial state crossings online with the digital database of permits. New truck drivers who have recently completed their CDL should keep track of these various laws to make sure they are staying within regulations while out on the road.
